'Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes' Release Date Confirmed For Sprint 2014 For PS4, PS4, Xbox 360, & Xbox One
"Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes," the prequel to "Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain," is coming to current and next generation consoles in Spring 2014, giving gamers a taste of the next major release in the franchise.
Konami announced today that "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 next spring starting at just $20. The current generation versions will cost just $20, while Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers will have to pay $30 for "Ground Zeroes."
"Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" will tell the story of Big Boss as he infiltrates a Cuban prison camp in an effort to rescue a prisoner held there. Of course, things won't be so easy for Big Boss, as Konami promises he'll encounter "explosive plot lines" in the course of his rescue mission.
Ground Zeroes uses the new Fox Engine that will also power the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain." Konami will use the first game to introduce some of the new elements that are integral to "The Phantom Pain."
New gameplay features in "Ground Zeroes" include a new day and night cycle and dynamic weather conditions that will change the way gamers play the game. Big Boss will also have the ability to call for help behind enemy lines, a feature that will be a big part of "The Phantom Pain."
"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" will come out sometime after the release of "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes," though there is no release date yet. Konami showed off gameplay of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" at Microsoft's 2013 E3 press conference, showing the game running on the Xbox One. The game will also come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
