Palihouse Santa Monica: 5 Fabulous Reasons To Stay At Charming Boutique Hotel
Our design editor Meg Busacca recently traveled to Santa Monica, Calif., and stayed in the one-of-a-kind boutique hotel, Palihouse.
The hotel's setting is undoubtedly charming. The Mediterranean Revival construction was formerly "The Embassy Hotel Apartments," and, today, operates as the Palihouse Santa Monica.
Originally built in 1927, the building has been immaculately cared for and, since 2001, has been considered a Santa Monica Historic Landmark. The sophisticated exterior, lovely courtyard and imaginative lobby and rooms evoke an authenticity often lost amongst hotels today.
Find out why you should plan your next getaway to Palihouse Santa Monica.
1. Engaging Environment
There is something incredibly special about visiting a new hotel and immediately feeling at home. The hotel staff were graciously accommodating and friendly. When you first arrive we recommend you order a cappuccino or a pot of tea at the lobby bar and enjoy the lush courtyard, or backyard garden. The solitude is satisfyingly peaceful!
2. Stunning Exterior and Creative Interior
Nothing beats the allure of historical architecture. The stylistic details of the building's exterior and interiors will leave you fixated, from the French doors to the ornate wood carved coffee bar, the space is filled with eclectic furnishings and decorative objects.
The green velvet built-in booths rest below dreamy glass windows and are especially majestic during sunrise and sunset. The lobby is full of books for visitors to enjoy and beautiful paintings fill the hallways and corridors. And, of course, the ornate stone fireplace makes for an even more welcoming setting.
3. Quality Taste
It is obvious that the hotel promotes a lifestyle surrounding quality design and, fortunately, the kitchen promotes that similar quality with its food. Palihouse offers a variety of dishes; from blueberry pancakes and avocado toast to fresh juices and salads. The simple and delicious all-day menu offerings make this spot even more appealing. Why not have breakfast in bed with the sun shining through your room's French doors?
4. Outdoor Amenities
The courtyard boasts a bocce court and offers Palihouse cruiser bikes visitors can rent. You're in luck because the beach is only two blocks away and makes for an ideal setting for a great bike ride. After some light exercise, play a casual game of bocce and pour yourself a glass of wine!
5. You Won't Want to Leave, And You Don't Have To!
Palihouse offers one to three months stays in the hotel's select furnished suites! Sorry you can't stay forever. Amenities for long-term stays include Internet, security, neighborhood concierge, daily housekeeping services, Paligroup and beverage venue access, and street parking!
