‘Criminal Minds’ CBS Season 12: Exec Producer Dishes Details On Season Premiere [SPOILERS]
"Criminal Minds" wrapped up season 11 on a mind-boggling cliffhanger. After proving Aaron Hotchner/Hotch's (Thomas Gibson) innocence in the season finale, FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) learned that several convicts, many of which the team had arrested, had escaped prison. Now, the team will have to catch these criminals again.
When season 12 premieres this fall, the BAU will receive a lot of help from Adam Rodriguez's character, Luke Alvez. Entertainment Weekly reports that some of the escaped prisoners were caught over the summer by Alvez. "There are still five [convicts] out there when we come into the premiere," the executive producer of "Criminal Minds," Erica Messer, told the publication. "One of them is a guy Peter Lewis plays named Mr. Scratch. He is our baddie for the year. We will stretch him out and tell his creepy tales."

Mr. Scratch uses mind-altering drugs to make his victims do what he wants. In season 10, he manipulated Hotch. Now, he is back as the upcoming season's main villain. Catching him will no easy feat.
Fortunately, the team gets help from the "CSI: Miami" actor. Rodriguez's Luke Alvez, as we reported earlier, is a FBI Fugitive Task Force Agent who will join the BAU in season 12 to help catch the escaped criminals. The actor has been booked a series regular, which means fans will get to see him a lot.

Luke Alvez isn't the only one who will help the team. Paget Brewster, who plays Interpol Agent Emily Prentiss on the crime procedural, will appear in multiple episodes. Viewers are super-excited to see this fan-favorite character return, even if it is just to fill the void left by Shemar Moore's departure.
