'Bates Motel': Rihanna Excited To Play Marion Crane; Carlton Cuse Commented On Her Casting
Rihanna is excited to check into "Bates Motel."
As revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last week, Rihanna was tapped to play Marion Crane in season 5 of the A&E series, and in a recent tweet she wrote, the eight-time Grammy-winning singer expressed her excitement about bringing the iconic "Psycho" character to life.
"Can't wait to check in @InsideBates," Rihanna tweeted, along with a clip which sees her confirming her casting on the show.
"Yes, hello Comic-Con, it's your girl RiRi and let me tell you what a bad bitch is about to do," Rihanna confidently says in the video. "I'm about to check into the 'Bates Motel' very soon, and guess what else... guess who's playing Marion? Yes, so all you Comic-Con fans, all you Bates Motel fans stay tuned."

The role of Marion was originally portrayed by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film "Psycho. For those who may not remember, Marion is the ill-fated Bates Motel guest, who is killed by Norman while she's taking a shower. Watch the classic scene in the video below:
During a roundtable interview at Comic-Con, executive producer Carlton Cuse explained why they decided to cast the "Work" hitmaker for the role.
"We're not doing a remake of 'Psycho,'" Cuse said (via Dread Central). "The danger of having Marion Crane in the show is that people think they know what the story is going to be. But I think the casting of Rihanna should signal loud and clear that we're doing a different version of Marion Crane."
He continued: "We're doing a 2017 version of Marion Crane. So there will be some points of connection with the original movie, but the way she traverses the narrative is going to be fresh and different."
