The announcement follows last week's news that the phone will be available for purchase from Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile this week. Verizon will begin selling the G2 online and in retail stores starting tomorrow, Sept. 12.
Meanwhile, AT&T will offer the phone starting Friday, Sept. 13.
The G2 features wireless charging -- at least for Verizon customers. Qi wireless charging is exclusive to the Verizon version of the G2.
The phone was unveiled during a press event Aug. 7, CNET reports.
Notably, the handset's volume and power buttons are on the back of the device instead of on the side. LG said the design decision came after studies suggested users have trouble pressing side buttons on large devices.
"The most innovative aspect of the G2 is the design, with the rear key being the feature everyone has been talking about since the news became public," Jong-seok Park, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, said in a statement. "It is certainly different. However, the sole purpose of this design shift was not just to be different. It was born from one of our key findings in human research."
The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch full HD display. Under the hood it runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, making it the first device to include Qualcomm's fastest chip.
It also boasts 3GB of ram, a 13-megapzel camera and a removable 2510 mAH battery.
A new feature called "Answer Me" automatically answers a call when a the phone is raised to your ear, and "Text Link" lets users save certain information, including addresses, to a map.
