Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Release Date, Release Date, Specs, Rumors: Note 3 to Hit Sept. 16? [VIDEO]
Nab the next Note this month.
A new rumor suggests the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will launch Sept. 16 -- at least in the UK.
A screenshot -- apparently from UK wireless carrier Three -- indicates that's the date the phone/tablet hybrid will become available to consumers, Uber Gizmo reports.
Samsung has yet to confirm that the report is accurate, and details about the phone's release date in other regions remain scarce.
Another new rumor suggests the device will boast an ultra-high-definition camera capable of 4K (3,840x2,160-pixel) video capture, CNET reports.
But the tech site says the rumor may be a long shot. No current smartphone offers video playback at such a high resolution, and the huge video files would clog the phone's hard drive in a hurry.
It's not yet known how much internal storage might be packed into the Note 3, which is expected to make its first public appearance next month.
In related news, sources close to the production of the new phone/tablet hybrid have leaked the first images of the device.
Notably, the device boasts a super-thin bezel measuring just 2.2 millimeters on both sides. That could keep the phone at a manageable size despite its massive 5.7 inch screen.
Earlier this week word broke that the phone/tablet hybrid will launch Sept. 4, just before the opening of the IFA consumer tech trade show in Berlin, NDTV reports.
Rumors of the launch date have circulated for weeks, but the news marks the first direct confirmation from Samsung.
The supersized Note 3 is expected to initially come in two colors: black or white.
The device could pack a beefier battery than its predecessor, according to Phone Arena. The tech site says the Note 3 will house a 3450mAh battery, compared to the Note 2's 3100mAh battery.
And the handset might also debut running Android 4.3, the latest version of the mobile operating system released earlier this month. Other rumors suggest it will boast a 5.7-inch AMOLED display, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of Ram, a 13-megapixel camera and LTE-A connectivity.
Samsung is also expected to unveil a new smartwatch dubbed the Galaxy Gear at the Sept. 4 event.
Smartwatches like the Galaxy Gear sync with your smartphone for instant access to notifications and basic app functionality, right on your wrist.
