VIXX Don't See BTS, Seventeen As Competition, Not Worried About Overlapping Promotions
BTS and Seventeen might be fellow male idol groups, but to VIXX they aren't rivals, they are friends trying to pursue the same dream.
VIXX, comprised of members N, Leo, Ken, Hongbin, Ravi and Hyuk, will be releasing their new Korean album "ZELOS", with the title track "Dynamite," as well as a new music video this week.
The group will be promoting their new album and single alongside a few other idol groups this time around, including the Bangtan Boys, who will be dropping their album "Young Forever" on May 2, and Seventeen, who will be releasing "Love Letter" on April 25.
But though they might end up competing for the trophy in music shows, VIXX recently revealed that they don't really treat BTS and Seventeen as competition, especially since their members are friends with the other idols, Soompi reported.
During their April 19 showcase for "ZELOS" at the Lotte Card Art Center in Seoul, the members of VIXX were asked to comment on the upcoming boy group battle, to which Ken replied, “I don’t see it as a battle. Rather, I’d like to see all of us pursuing different styles and achieving positive results.
"I haven’t thought of it as a face-off,” he explained.
VIXX's Hyuk also added his own two cents, saying, “I think we’ll later look back at this time together, smiling and thinking, ‘We used to promote and compete with these guys."
Ken, who is close to BTS's Jin and often posts photos of their escapades on social media, was also asked about his close friendship with the BTS vocalist and he confirmed that VIXX are very close with BTS.
“Not only me but also other VIXX members have friends in BTS,” he shared.
BTS's V also previously revealed that he is friends with VIXX's Hongbin during an episode of "Celebrity Bromance."
VIXX's leader N then shared that he and his members are genuinely excited for BTS's and Seventeen's albums and performances, praising both groups.
“We also enjoy watching talented groups. BTS and SEVENTEEN are remarkably cool. We’re looking forward to seeing the amazing stages of groups promoting at the same time as us," he shared, as quoted by Soompi.
