While the advertisement shows off a bit of the Iconia W3's advantages, Windows site Neowin called the effort a poor idea. "Microsoft targets iPad Mini by highlighting an awful Windows 8 tablet," the story's headline reads.
The advertisement uses Siri's voiceover to make fun of Apple while comparing the two mini tablets. "Wow, you're a real PC," Siri says. The Acer Iconia W3 features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 2GB RAM, but has received poor marks for its 1280 x 800 display. Originally priced at $380, the 32GB version of the tablet is now available for $300 on Amazon. The iPad Mini can be purchased for $129 more, or $429.
The Acer advertisement follows the release of a anti-iPad Surface RT ad Wednesday.
