The bridge's superstructure is closed down for nearly four days (from 6 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Monday) and will be covered with an installation art piece consisting of machine-knitted blankets.
The Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh will place individual blankets on the bridge's walkways, which will later be collected and distributed to homeless shelters, nursing homes and animal shelters.
