iPhone 5, 5S Waterproof Cases: Lifeproof Nuud, Incipio Atlas, Which One is Right For You?
Who doesn't want to make their iPhone 5 waterproof? There are tons of cases out there that claim they'll protect your phone, but do they really work?
The Lifeproof Nuud case puts nothing in between you and the Retina display, PC Mag reported. For $74 on Amazon, you can get a case that's an upgrade from the Lifeproof Fre case. PC Mag said its look and feel is better, and the screen isn't dimmed by the case. It's 0.51 inches in thickness but weighs much less.
The case comes with a headphone adapter, a microfiber cloth of installation, and a separate screen protector for those who want it.
It even includes a plastic iPhone 5-shaped rectangle, so that you can test your case before putting it on.
PC Mag rated the case as "excellent" after putting it to the test. They dropped it from chest-level, submerging it in water for 30 minutes. The phone was even dropped display side down, and was fine.
Though the display isn't functional underwater, you can launch the camera before, and use the volume up button to take photos.
TechnoBuffalo picked some other top choices when it came to waterproof iPhone 5 cases.
The Incipio Atlas, they wrote, is a lightweight design, and can be submerged in up to six feet of water for nearly an hour. That case is available for $60 on Amazon.
Another good case is the Otterbox Armor Series, according to TechnoBuffalo. Though it doesn't hold up underwater for as long as other cases, but can withstand 2000 pounds of pressure. However, it's pretty bulky, so it might not be your first choice. This one's listed for $70 on Amazon.
