"Divergent," "Insurgent" and "Allegiant" book author Veronica Roth recently opened up about Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) and Peter Hayes' (Miles Teller) relationship in one of the books' deleted scenes.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Roth explained that "Strike First, Strike Hard" was deleted from "Allegiant" because it slowed down the pace of the story.

The scene was supposed to focus on Tris, Four Eaton (Theo James), and the other characters reuniting with the rest of Dauntless.

According to Roth, this scene from "Allegiant" was intended to reinforce the characters' choice to stay a faction no matter what happens.

Meanwhile, the best-selling author also revealed that "Strike First, Strike Hard" was supposed to also show Peter's vulnerable side.

In the books, as well as the first two movies, Peter was depicted as Tris' nemesis. He was also responsible for almost getting Tris killed.

However, Peter later on teamed up with Tris and Four, and they escaped the Erudite compound together.

"It showed some of Peter's vulnerability as well as how much Tris has changed since he first tormented her in this dormitory," Roth said.

The same publication also released an excerpt from the deleted scene which was told from Tris' point of view.

"The trains aren't running, so I walk to Dauntless headquarters. Alone. That seems about right - the first time I went to Dauntless headquarters I was also alone, but in a crowd, standing on the edge of the roof in just my Abnegation shirt."

In other news, a collector's edition of "Allegiant" was recently made available on the Harper Collins website.

The book, which costs $19.99, contains 48 pages of bonus pages of excerpts from Natalie Prior's journal, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Mar. 18, 2016.
