Tweets recently revealed that the "Law And Order: SVU" alum would soon be joining Kevin Bacon and Shawn Ashmore's quest to tackle serial killers when the drama resumes in March. "The Following" season 3 premieres March 2 with two back to back episodes.

With "The Following" season 3 premiere less than two weeks away, it appears another new cast member has leaked into the public fray. As indicated by various tweets, "Law & Order: SVU" actress Diane Neal will be joining what some have called the darkest, most nightmare-inducing plot of "The Following" yet.

The news comes to Design & Trend via posts from Neal's Twitter account. Yesterday evening, the actress showed off a picture of the badge and gun that she'll use as a law enforcement officer on the show. If one of her social media connections guessed which show the photo was from, Neal said she would reveal the answer publicly.

Within about 10 minutes, Dianne Neal replied to one fan with "The Following! You Win!"

For those that don't recall Neal's past history, she's most known for playing Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak on "Law & Order: SVU." After staying on the NBC show for seven seasons and over 100 episodes, she also made appearances on "NCIS" and "NCIS: New Orleans" as Special Agent Abigail Borin.

Given her past pedigree of law enforcement roles, as well as the picture of the gun and badge, it's assumed that Neal will be in close contact with Ryan Hardy's FBI trio during the plot of season 3. Spoiler TV lists the role as a guest cast appearance. The actress later tweeted that the appearance will only be for a single episode "but a fun one" at that with an equally "fun cast."

As many Joe Carroll fans likely know by now, "The Following" season 3 premiere is only about a week and a half away. That means viewers have been eager to scoop as many details as possible about Fox's serial killer drama. Design & Trend has a litany of spoiler articles revealing detailed plot information about 2015's opening episodes, but those only exist for visitors that want to read them.

As for critics that have seen the opening moments of "The Following" season 3 already, they claim that the early plot contains "darker, more twisted, frightening and nightmare-inducing" scenarios for viewers to sink their teeth into.

Diane Neal is far from the first new cast member making a debut in "The Following" season 3. In the past, we've covered articles about alumni from "Homeland," "Almost Human," "24," "The Goodwife," "Weeds" and more.  Those links may contain plot spoilers depending on how sensitive one is to such matters.

"The Following" season 3 returns to Fox with a two-hour season premiere on March 2.
