The World's Oldest Gorilla Celebrates 56th Birthday

The world's oldest zoo born gorilla Colo is celebrating her 56th birthday with treats at her home in Ohio.

Colo, a female western lowland gorilla, was born in 1956 at Columbus Zoo and has become the oldest gorilla in any zoo. The gorilla was named Colo by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

"Happy Birthday" was sung and special gifts were given by the zoo people and many guests.

Birthday cake was cut on Saturday, Dec. 22 and the gorilla was treated with her favorite food and tomatoes.

Colo has three children and the family lives across the country. Her family totally numbers 14.
