Clash of Lovers: Halle Berry’s ex fights with current Lover
Halle Berry's former boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, who is the father of her 4-year-old daughter Nahla, was arrested for battery on Thanksgiving Day following an altercation with Berry's fiancé Olivier Martinez.
According to TMZ.com, when Gabriel was dropping off Nahla at Halle's house, Oliver reportedly walked up to him and said, "We have to move on," supposedly in reference to the recent custodial battle that prevented Berry from moving to France with her daughter.
This irked Gabriel and a brawl ensued.
Both men suffered injuries and were taken to the same Los Angeles hospital for treatment. While Gabriel had a broken rib, bruises to the face and a head injury, Olivier had a possible broken hand and neck injuries, reported TMZ.
Earlier this month, a family court denied Berry's request to move to France stating that it would spoil the child's close relationship with her father, Gabriel. Halle Berry wanted to shift to France because of stronger paparazzi laws, therefore a much safer place to raise her daughter.
Halle Berry and Gabriel met in 2005 during a Versace photo shoot and she gave birth to Nahla three years later. But the couple split in 2010 and their relationship got strained due to custody issues.
"Our issues were never about fighting for her," Berry told Extra. "We both know a child needs both her parents. But what I want to say about it is sometimes, as a couple, you reach an impasse. We needed a court and a judge to help us work out some of the delicate issues, and I'm so happy we've arrived at that place - because for her sake, this is the best way. We both love her more than life."
Meanwhile, the trend of custody battles is not new. Berry joins a long list of celebrities who have been engrossed in custody battles, some of which got resolved this year. For example, Usher and Tameka Foster were fighting for three years for custody of their sons until a judge granted Usher primary custody of their two sons in August.
In another case, TJ Jackson was granted custody of his uncle Michael Jackson's children - Prince, Paris, and Blanket after a custody battle that involved the entire Jackson clan.
