Just Disrespectful: Bobbi Kristina Has Nasty Words For Actress Angela Bassett
Lawd, lawd, lawd that Bobbi...
Words have now been exchanged between actress Angela Bassett and Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, over her late mother's TV-movie.
In case you forgot, Angela Bassett will be making her directorial debut with the Lifetime-produced movie on the late Whitney Houston. Actress Yaya DaCosta will be taking on the lead role despite Bobbi Kristina's protests and interest to play her mother.
Angela Bassett did an interview recently with Entertainment Weekly where she revealed she gave no thought to Kristina ever being up for the role of her mother.
I did not think about casting her. And probably for a number of reasons, you know. One being that she's not an actress. I know she's acted here and there. I know she's been on their family's reality show, but she's not an actress and acting is a craft. It's an
attempt to illuminate the complexities of human behavior and life. And this is a very fast-paced schedule; we have just 21 days to tell this story. It's more than just saying lines and turning the light on. You have to drive the story-there's a technical aspect.
....oh but Bobbi Kristina wasn't having that...no, no, no. She took to Twitter to vent:
Ha MsAng "bassketcase" has such a damn nerve. My lord
, at least the world doesn't mistake me for the wrong sex..[sunglasses emjoi] she has #XtraEequipment
When I win my first Grammy or Oscar, *Shrugs* hmm whichever comes1st, I'll be sure 2shout URname out b-tch ! hahUrTestResults= MALE. Lmao [crying laughing emoji]
Now keep this in mind, Angela Bassett's points are very valid. Outside of an appearance on Tyler Perry's "For Better Or Worse" and that reality show (what channel did that come on by the way?), Bobbi Kristina doesn't have credentials like that of other working actresses and taking shot at Angela Bassett in the manner she did exposes simple immaturity and a lower level of class.
Also, Angela told EW that Whitney's family wasn't behind it which poses a similiar tone to the upcoming Aaliyah biopic.
They're not participating. We reached out to them in the early days; of course we're not going to do the movie and not say anything to them," she said. "You can if you're using public domain, but that's not our desire. We paid our respects and let the conversation be had, just to get their okay. They certainly could have been not involved and against it.
