At the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the Italian furniture fair, the German design team Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings display Colour One, their most recent installation in which they disassembled and recreated the Mini One into a new perspective of design.

To present a new point of view on the design of the Mini's individual elements, the German duo "peeled the Mini One like an onion, layer by layer," according to the car manufacturer. That permitted the designers to "extract the essence" of the design of the whole car or for each component.

In the Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings website, Colour One is "a design installation that explores the world of cars in the area between facts and imagination."

"The non-automotive design duo visualizes the layered structure of the Mini One in starling textures, entrancing colors and skilled craftsmanship" they added.

Colour One will be on display until April 28th, 2012.
