On Tuesday, the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy, became the platform to the unveiling of the innovating SodaStream system, a home-made-soda maker and a new patent-pending flavoring system SodaCaps. The system, designed by the Swiss Yves Béhar, uses water directly from the tap and takes the same bottle every time, making it an eco-friendly system for the soda-lovers.
After the partnership between the Company and Yves Behar, the designer re-examined every piece of the SodaStream soda maker. The new "Source," is the result, an elegantly-designed soda maker that combines splendor, functionality and effectiveness. The entire top surface of the soda maker is responsive to touch and the strength of carbonation is visible through the LED display. The easy bottle insertion and removal allow the lustrous carbonating bottle lock into place using the new, patent-pending "snap-n-lock" mechanism.

Once the water is carbonated, the user can chose the flavor included in the SodaCaps, a capsule that can be place onto a SodaStream bottle. While being presses down, it lightly starts the flow of flavor along the inside walls of the bottle. SodaCaps can be recycled, and the Company plans to make them 100% biodegradable.
Yves Behar explains in the press release: "Disposable water bottles are going away, and so they should, so now is the time to rethink our soda bottles as well. I'm a big fan of the spirit of SodaStream which places environmental responsibility alongside family and fun at the center of its purpose. SodaStream uses technology to reduce the complexity and waste of sparkling water and soda, and this is the quality I focused on."
According to the SodaSource Web site, Yves Béhar believes that design should be a force for positive social and environmental change. Béhar founded in 1999 fuseproject, focusing on the development of cohesive brand plus product experiences. Previously, Béhar had partnered with Herman Miller, Jawbone, GE, Puma, Canal+, MINI, Samsung, Issey Miyake, Swarovski and many others brands to launch innovative products. The MOMA and the Pompidou Center in Paris include Béhar's works as part of their permanent collections.
The new technology of the SodaCaps and the Source are combining new technology with beautiful, lifestyle design, Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream, stated in the press release. "These improvements elevate the SodaStream experience to a whole new level," he added.
