In cooperation with the Milli Reasürans gallery and Istanbul Technical University's Department of Industrial Product Design, the Finnish Embassy in Turkey will organise an event in Istanbul focusing on Finnish design.
The Design Museum, Helsinki exhibition Marimekko - Fabrics, Fashion will be on show in the gallery between 15 December 2011 and 28 January 2012. In connection with the exhibition, on 16 December 2011 a seminar entitled "Embedding Design in Life" will also be organised at Istanbul Technical University.

The seminar will be part of the Industrial Design Meetings series, a significant academic and professional discussion forum for the design industry in Turkey. For ten years, this series has been presenting interesting themes and introducing experts.
The speakers at the event will include Eero Holstila who will talk anout the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 organisation, Managing Director Antti Pitkänen from SEOS Design and Designer Erja Hirvi from Marimekko. The Turkish speakers at the seminar will include Professor Özlem Er and Designer Fulden Topaloglu from Istanbul Technical University. Eero Holstila will introduce the design-derived innovation policy of the Helsinki region and Antti Pitkänen give a lecture on Finnish design concepts as well as cooperation between universities and businesses in Finland. Erja Hirvi will bring a designer's perspective to the seminar by sharing of her work at Marimekko.
In February, the Marimekko exhibition will be relocated to CerModern, the new Contemporary Art Museum in Ankara where it will be displayed until April.
