Samsung Galaxy S5 Active Model Leaked For Carriers AT&T, Sprint In U.S.
Samsung will release an additional rugged Galaxy S5 Active model, like it did with the Galaxy S4, with AT&T and Sprint listed as carriers in the U.S. among others, according to information obtained by trusted leaker @evleaks.
The GS5 Active also reportedly goes by the model number SM-G870x, which was previously reported in March by SamMobile as being a Galaxy S5 Mini smartphone.
Though Samsung gave the flagship Galaxy S5 dustproof and waterproof resistance, the GS5 Active would offer additional protection from the elements.
evleaks did not mention a specific release date for the smartphone, cost or specs details.
The Galaxy S5 is expected to be joined by a trio of S5 companions in the Galaxy S5 Mini, Galaxy S5 Active and Galaxy S5 Zoom with better camera features. Speculation of a "Premium" metal Galaxy S5 model were recently shot down by Samsung CEO JK Shin.
The smaller-screened S5 Mini is expected to offer a similar package to its flagship companion in a smaller size, offering consumers a smartphone with good specs and a lower price.
While the Galaxy S III Mini and Galaxy S4 Mini were far cries from their flagship companions specs-wise, the report adds that the latest S Mini will be more of the "smaller flagship" model some crave, rather than mid-range devices with a flagship name.
The S5 Mini was recently spotted on the Samsung site with the model number SM-G750, along with a 1280 x 720p HD display, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. While no mentions are made of the device's screen size (or any other notable specs), Gotta Be Mobile reports a 4.5 to 4.7-inch display could be in the cards.

The smartphone will be offered in black and white for $200 on a two-year contract with AT&T, with Next 18 and Next 12 options available for $25 a month and $32.50 a month, respectively. The GS5 can also be purchased for $650 without a contract from the carrier.
T-Mobile is offering a special pre-order that allows customers to snag the S5 for no money down if they are willing to pay $27.50 per month for two years, or a $660 total before monthly call, message, and data charges. The deal expires March 31. T-Mobile adds that consumers can expect the device by April 11.
