Avengers 2 'Age Of Ultron' Movie Casts Korean Actress Kim Soo Hyun; Sequel Film Details UPDATE [Rumors, Spoilers, Release]
Korean actress Kim Soo Hyun has joined the cast of "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
The second "Avengers" installment began shooting in South Africa last month. Citizens of Johannesburg took pictures of the production, which included blown up cars, clouds of dust and a lifesize replica of the Hulk.
Kim Soo Hyun has starred in several television dramas. "Avengers 2" will mark her transition to the big screen.
Her role has yet to be announced, although she will likely play "a doctor with ties to Ultron and Tony Stark," Escapist reported.
"It would be a spoiler, so we can't tell you which character Kim Soo Hyun will play," film officials said. "Her character is already decided and the scene is already written so we cast Kim Soo Hyun, but we can't let you know about her character. We only can say that her character is a substantial supporting role."
"Age of Ultron" will feature a star studded ensemble cast, which includes Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jeremy Renner.
"Captain America" star Anthony Mackie has also expressed interest in joining the film.
"I'm like, 'So have y'all decided if I'm in Avengers 2 yet? I'll get on the bus to Albuquerque tomorrow!'" Anthony said. "I wanted to be a superhero since the first day that I started in this business, and to have the opportunity to be a superhero is kind of remarkable."
Kim Soo Hyun agrees; the Korean actress said that she is thrilled to be part of a superhero franchise.
"After a long wait, I'm happy to be back with great news," Kim Soo Hyun said in a statement. "I have a lot to do ahead of me, but for now, the words 'Welcome to the Marvel Universe' are amazing and kind of overwhelming. I was a fan of Marvel Comics, and if you really like something, looks like fate can make it happen."
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will be released on May 1st, 2015.
