Gwen Stacy's fate in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2 is one of the hottest topics surrounding the film right now, as both Emma Stone and director Marc Webb have hinted in recent interviews that Stacy could very well perish before the ending credits, fittingly similar to her story in the Spider-Man comics.

"On The Amazing Spider-Man 2's official Facebook page on Thursday, a new clip will be released at 5 p.m. PT, which will give fans a glimpse of Gwen's fate," interviewer Ryan Seacrest posted via RyanSeacrest.com.

While certainly an enticing hook, what exactly did Stone say about her role? Decide for yourself:

"Basically they're going to see the continuation of the Spider-Man story, which is the hero's journey," Stone told Seacrest. "And he's up against a whole new squadron of villains and he's struggling with promises he's made in the last movie and the consequences of making those and what it's like to be in love with somebody who you promised to not see anymore. I think the intention the whole time has been to tell Gwen's story has closely to the comic as possible."

In the first Amazing Spider-Man film, Peter Parker swore to Stacy's father that he would dump his daughter rather than involve her in his dangerous scrime-fighting life. However, as we have seen in the trailers for the next film, Parker and Stacy are still very much together.

Webb spoke to Total Film about the couple's daring try at keeping their relationship alive prior to the Grammys, suggesting fans should definitely be worried for Stacy's life.

"We throw around the term 'operatic' because of the spectacle and the theatre involved, which is pretty epic," the director told Total Film. "There are enormous sets and great set pieces. But really it's a very intimate song - this relationship between Peter and Gwen is very delicate and beautiful."

The (500)Days of Summer director added that the next installment in the Spider-Man series will be "huge," and the "most ambitious" Spider-Man movie ever created.

Will we see Stacy's death in the Spidey sequel? Let us in on your thinking with a comment.
